Living in Accra

Accra's lifestyle offer spans the full spectrum. East Legon, Cantonments, and Airport Residential offer a cosmopolitan, restaurant-rich, internationally minded lifestyle. Osu's Oxford Street is the closest thing to a European-style high street, lined with restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Education in Accra is as varied as the city itself. At tertiary level, the University of Ghana at Legon, GIMPA, the Central University College, Ashesi University, and numerous private universities and professional institutes give Accra one of the deepest higher education ecosystems on the continent.

Transport

Accra is connected to the world via Kotoka International Airport (KIA), which serves direct flights to London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Dubai, Johannesburg, and numerous African destinations. Domestically, Accra's road network anchored by the N1 motorway, Ring Road, Liberation Road, and Independence Avenue connects all parts of the city and provides national highway links to Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tema, and Takoradi. Within the city, Uber, Bolt, trotros, and shared taxis provide transport across all neighbourhoods. Traffic congestion is Accra's most significant quality-of-life challenge, and neighbourhood selection for commuting efficiency is one of the most important decisions a buyer can make.
