Roman Ridge

Greater Accra, Ghana

Roman Ridge has been one of Accra’s most respected residential addresses for decades, and there is a very good reason its reputation has proved so durable. Situated between the Cantonments corridor and the Dzorwulu road, Roman Ridge is characterised by wide, well-maintained streets, substantial plot sizes, mature garden trees, and a mix of older colonial-style bungalows and newer, purpose-built residences. The neighbourhood has long attracted senior professionals — Ghanaian and expatriate alike — and the presence of several internationally recognised schools within and adjacent to the area makes it a natural first choice for families arriving in Accra. Roman Ridge manages to combine genuine prestige with a warmth and community spirit that more anonymous gated estates sometimes lack.

Roman Ridge’s lifestyle is shaped by its community-minded character and its excellent recreational infrastructure. Several well-regarded restaurants serve the neighbourhood, including local spots beloved by embassy families and long-term residents. The Paloma Centre on the nearby Ring Road provides additional dining options, a gym, and retail services. The Roman Ridge School itself — one of Accra’s most celebrated international schools — has an excellent sports programme that creates a community hub for families. Running and cycling on the neighbourhood’s broad, tree-lined streets is popular, and the overall sense of a community that knows and looks after itself is a strong lifestyle draw. The proximity to Cantonments and the Ghana Golf Club means weekend golf and fine dining are always accessible.

Schools

SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College in adjacent Dzorwulu is similarly prestigious. The Ghana International School and Lincoln Community School are both under 15 minutes away, and Accra Academy is accessible for Ghanaian-curriculum secondary education. The University of Ghana at Legon is 15–20 minutes away. The density of high-quality educational options in and around Roman Ridge is one of the neighbourhood’s defining strengths.
